For the first time in several years, Boxer Metal is accepting applications for one complete custom BMW motorcycle build for 2027.
This is not a production build.
This is not a catalog motorcycle.
This is a collaboration between builder and owner to create a truly unique BMW motorcycle built specifically around your vision, riding style, and goals.
For more than three decades, Chris Canterbury has been designing, building, and fabricating custom BMW motorcycles, sidecars, performance upgrades, and one-of-a-kind machines for riders around the world.
Every Boxer Metal build begins with a conversation.
Some customers want the ultimate Airhead café racer.
Others dream of a long-distance adventure machine, custom sidecar rig, vintage restoration, or something that has never been built before.

The Selection Process
Because each project requires significant time and personal involvement, Boxer Metal will accept only one complete custom motorcycle commission for 2027.
The right project is more important than the quantity of projects.

- Frame powder coating (stripping the bike down & reassembly) $3500.00 - $6000.00

Getting started...
If you are serious about having Boxer Metal build your dream bike or sidecar please contact us to set up an appointment either on the phone or in person. This will also require a $500.00 deposit so we know you are serious & ready. This is not refundable, but will be applied towards your build & used towards R&D of your build. Depending on the complexity of your build you may be charged for some of the design time and the sourcing of non standard parts.
Two weeks prior to your S.T.B.D. (start to build date) we require a 50% deposit based on your build cost. Half way through the process we require a 25% balance payment & the rest to be paid in full when your build is finished. Be prepared for the unknown as we get into taking your bike apart. These bike are old and parts do wear out so your original build cost could go up.
Finding the perfect bike or sidecar...
We can also assist in helping you find a BMW motorcycle or sidecar to start with. We do our best to find the right bike to start with, however there are things that we can not know as these bikes some times are 40 years old & might need maintenance that is undetectable until the bike is stripped down, so be prepared for it needing a valve job or a clutch to fixing oil leaks & rebuilding carburetors.
This would be above and beyond the estimate for your custom build. If you would like us to find the perfect starter bike or that cool sidecar for your bike or both this requires a $5000.00 deposit. If there is a balance this is to be paid by credit card, bank transfer, or check with in 24 hours (checks must be sent UPS Next Day Air- no exceptions). If there is a balance in your favor this will get applied towards your build.
So, your dream machine is finished. What next?
Once your project is finished we will put 500 to 1000 miles on it making sure things are functioning perfectly. This requires your bike to be currently registered and insured. With a thumbs up you can pick up your bike or we can arrange shipping.
