1970 BMW R75/5
Two grade school friends with a dream to travel together come to us & asked "Could you make our /5's live again"? We said, "you bet!" Dave's 1970 R60/5 (not pictured) was a $400.00 special he rode for years until there wasn't much left. Chris' 1970 R75/5 (pictured) had given him pleasure for more than 20 years until someone decided to help him restore it, which never happened.
At one point through his travels the motor decided to lose a main bearing & to get him on the road cheap & quickly a good used replacement lower end was installed & Chris continued his travels.
We did not have much to start with when the bike arrived at Boxer Metal. The priorities were to re-plate the original hardware after cleaning, filing & sanding all of the wrench marks & rust. Next we re-chromed the original 1955-1973 Euro handlebars, as many know these are very hard to find along with the fork brace, fender stay & centerstand handle, powder coat the frame and other parts. The original fenders & gas tank all very rough but restorable went to our master painter.
The original engine case was located so the bike now has matching numbers for the frame & motor. In the end of the restoration we have rebuilt, re-plated, repainted, polished, massaged, adjusted, loved every part on this R75/5! We have also replaced all of the wiring, all of the rubber, all bearings & moving parts.

"Wow! What a beautiful layout. Please tell Rebecca the photos are just gorgeous. And the bike...just an amazing piece of work, Chris. Something to be really proud of along with the other projects that have passed through your doors in these last few years." -Chris B, owner of this bike.I" saw this posted to the forums just yesterday… What a gorgeous bike Chris! This bike was truly BMW's factory "café Racer" way before the R90S.I bet it feels even sportier with your rearsets. Looks great with matching black rims. Very classy build. Congrats." -Bill, OTL Magazine (BMWRA)"That's purely a product of our glorious (!?) new era. That said, as I've already said to Chris, his R75 is the best looking '75 I've ever gazed upon. It's Chris' best work IMO. I'd love to own that machine. So would BMW Classic! Great job Chris!" -Will Guyan, Editor BMWRA
